Union Rally Montanans for Support

After reading the Billings Gazette the other day, I noticed an article titled AFL-CIO Rep Urges Grass-Roots Support for Bill. I was surprised to find out the unions are moving forward with a disturbing national movement called the Employee Free Choice Act. It will end the secret ballot process for elections and increase penalties against employers who have committed unfair labor practices.

This makes me think to myself, what are the Conservatives doing? Are we going to stand on the sidelines while they mount an offensive?

Right now, it is a small movement, but this is going to become like the Tet Offensive for the upcoming 2010 election. The shots are being fired!!!!

I find it alarming that Stewart Acuff, Special Assistant to the AFL-CIO President, recommends that union members call or write their congressman about the Employee Free Choice Act. He talked about the bill at the First Congregational Church of Billings.

Image if an Evangelical church would help out with such an effort. There would be a public outcry!!

The Employee Free Choice Act has a lot of power to strengthen unions throughout the county. Basically, if it passes, it would make it easier for unions to form at the workplace and create harsher penalties for your employer.

With this bill, I believe we are marching closer towards socialism. Acuff claims, it will help the middle class by giving them higher wages. This act would cause hardships for small businesses all around Montana.

James Sherk and Paul Kersey with the National Heritage Foundation have this correct it “would strip workers of their fundamental rights and leave them more vulnerable to pressure than before.” The people in Montana must take action and forget the talk. Acuff says, the unions are mobilizing the largest grass-roots lobbying effort in the United States.

If we utilize our true Conservative values and come together as one, then we will defeat the Employee Free Choice Act. Now is the time to voice your opinion against this act by writing letters to the editor and calling our congressman.

Let our voices be heard across Montana!!!
