Update – Montana Stands Up to the Feds

MT Gun Flag

On April 21st I did a blog post regarding the Montana Made Firearms Bill called Montana Stands Up to the Feds!  The bill exempts firearms made and retained in Montana from all federal gun regulation.  This is a simple issue of the Tenth Amendment and the federal government unconstitutionally encroaching on state rights.

The next step in the process took place on Thursday when a lawsuit was filed.  You can find the article on the lawsuit entitled, Montana Gun Suit Challenges Federal Authority.  I support this bill; it is a vital issue for our country and will help define the county we live in.  It seems to me, not being an attorney, that this is an open and shut case.  This bill is legal under the Constitution and no laws or decisions by any court can change that.

Montana making National News

Vodpod videos no longer available.

The Glen Beck Show did a series about The Civilest” of Wars between the federal and state governments.  The show mentioned how many states are finally standing up for their rights.  They are challenging the federal government authority delegated through Amendment 10 of the United States Constitution.

The citizens of this country can make a difference by helping to challenge a failing system within our democracy.  Now is the time for the people to tell the federal government-Don’t Tread On Me or there will be consequences.  Without us uniting on our principles we cannot stop the seeds of socialism being sowed.

The best part of the series was the appearance of Rep. Joel Boniek R-Livingston and Gary Marbut President of Montana Shooting Sports Association.  They talked about the passage of HB-246 (read about it here on the TSNROUNDUP blog ) and how it has become a key issue in our state.  The courts are now acting upon the issue through it seems they always don’t listen to the thoughts of the people.

The video from the show is posted above for your viewing purposes.

Favorite Story About Montana Legislature

2000_jackass

It looks as though the Legislature in Helena will FINALLY come to an end today.  Politicians will not be able to place any more laws or restrictions on us or spend anymore of our money.  The end of the session got me thinking about my favorite story from Helena this year.  Last week I found an article about Representative Boniek bringing his “Democratic friend to the Capitol.”

Rep. Boniek rode his half horse and half jackass, Jesse, to the Capitol and tied him to a tree on the grounds.  Boniek said that Jesse is his “half-Democrat” friend.

My favorite exchange from the article was:

“I rode by (U.S. Rep.) Denny Rehberg’s office this morning and one of the staffers came out and I said, ‘I’m bringing my Democrat to the Capitol today,'” Boniek said. “She said, ‘Are you a Democrat?’ I said, ‘No, I’m a Republican, but I’m bipartisan.'”

A little bit of jest is needed in these tense end-of-session situations and I’m glad Rep. Boniek has a sense of humor.  As I wrote in an earlier blog post he’s done a great job in Helena and continues to surprise.
